As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, we’re recognising the brilliant women across Fresh Hub Group whose insight and expertise help shape our business every single day. This year, we’re shining a light on one of them: Lisa Dowding, Head of Sourcing at Fruit Forever.
Lisa joined Fruit Forever in 2018, having already worked closely with Garry Cirillo for seven years prior, before the business became part of Fresh Hub Group.

More about Lisa’s role
As Head of Sourcing, Lisa manages the end-to-end citrus procurement programme, overseeing availability, profitability and supplier strategy to ensure we have the right fruit, in the right place, at the right time.
“It’s everything from maintaining year-round supply and meeting customer quality standards to making sure we always have the right amount of stock available,” she explains. It’s a role that blends detail, problem solving and relationship building, often at pace: “You never know what challenges you will face daily, but that variety is part of what makes it exciting.”
Her background, studying Spanish, Italian and Business Studies at university, set her up well for a sourcing career that involves working closely with growers across multiple countries. Before joining Fruit Forever, she built hands on experience at the former Mack Multiples business, gaining practical QC knowledge before progressing into procurement and account management.
What drew Lisa to Procurement
Lisa always wanted a role that connected her with people and places beyond the UK. “I was keen to find a job where I could use my languages and hopefully travel,” she says.
“I’ve been very lucky to have travelled far and wide and creating long lasting partnerships with growers is always a highlight for me.” Those partnerships remain at the heart of her work today. Lisa plays a key role in nurturing relationships across the grower base, ensuring alignment, trust and long-term shared success.
Lisa’s advice for women entering fresh produce
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Learn as much as you can from your peers and ask for mentors to help you along the way.” The industry, she says, rewards those who are willing to stay curious, be proactive and lean into the steep learning curve.
Why FHG is a great place for women to build their careers
For Lisa, it comes down to opportunity, empowerment and people: “There’s so much opportunity here, whether you’re in technical, commercial or operations. And because FHG is grower owned, you really feel connected to the impact you’re making.”
What makes the biggest difference? “The people. We’re a like minded team with a ‘we’re all in it together’ attitude. We’re not afraid to think differently or challenge how things have always been done and we do it while supporting each other. That mix of positivity and kindness is what makes this such a great place to work.”
Today, we’re proud to recognise Lisa and the many women across Fresh Hub Group, Parallel UK, Parallel Fresh, Radiare, APG and Fruit Forever who help drive our business forward every day.
